We have a program at Loma Portal called "Dophin Club" funded by an EMHI grant. It is a program which allows us to provide extra support to primary grade children in need of assistance in adjusting to the demands of school. This program is not a counseling program and is not designed for children with serious problems.

Once a child is accepted into the program with a signed parent permission, a trained and supervised Guidance Assistant (Holly Kirkpatrick or Julie Mudgett) as a special friend meets with the child in a special activity room once a week for 30 minutes for twelve weeks. Loma Portal's Dolphin activity room is specially designed for the student to receive positive one-on-one attention to help him or her feel good about themselves and build confidence in their abilities.
